Caviar has been a symbol of elegance for centuries – a way to boast your cultured palate as well as your prosperous fortune. While there are innumerable ways to serve and enjoy your fine Caviar, today I wanted to focus on a traditional Caviar service.
The first and foremost thing you will need is your fresh Caviar, an ounce or so per person will do quite nicely. You’ll want to keep it in the coldest part of your refrigerator until just before you’re ready to serve. Don’t open your jar or tin before then, as oxygen is not a friend to Caviar. The jars and tins are all vacuum sealed to retain freshness but once the seal is broken Caviar should be consumed within 24 hours.
The next thing you will need is a way to serve your Caviar, crystal and Mother of Pearl servers are the best! Here are a couple that we carry – Crystal Server Mother of Pearl Server. If you don’t have a traditional serving dish, place the jar or tin into a decorative glass bowl with crushed ice. You’ll also want a Mother of Pearl spoon as a metal spoon is a cardinal sin in the world of Caviar!
There are a ton of different accompaniments that you can serve with your Caviar. To name a few…
– Blinis
– Crème Fraiche
– Diced Onion
– Fresh Chives
– Hard Boiled Eggs
Last but not least, don’t forget your beverage! An ice cold shot of vodka or a flute of champagne will complement the flavors tremendously.
The most important thing to remember about your Caviar experience is that it’s all about you. You can customize it however you want to fit the mood for you or your guests. So enjoy your Caviar service, and maybe even start your own traditions!
